Why Publish with JATR?

The Journal of Addiction Therapy and Research (JATR) welcomes manuscripts that push boundaries in addiction science and clinical practice. As an open-access, peer-reviewed periodical, JATR ensures every accepted paper reaches a worldwide audience—clinicians, researchers, policymakers and communities seeking practical solutions to addiction.

JATR invites contributions that explore the complex biological, psychological, social and policy dimensions of addiction, treatment innovation and recovery.

Invitation for Submissions

Authors are invited to submit manuscripts that address any aspect of addiction therapy or research including, but not limited to:

• Neurobiology and genetics of addiction
• Clinical trials of pharmacological and psychosocial interventions
• Behavioural addictions (gaming, internet, gambling, food, etc.)
• Public health, prevention and harm-reduction strategies
• Comorbid mental health and substance use disorders
• Community-based rehabilitation and peer-support models
• Health policy, service delivery and program evaluation
• Socio-cultural and ethical aspects of addiction
• Case reports highlighting novel clinical insights

Manuscripts should provide clear methodological detail, ethical compliance, and implications for clinical practice or public health policy.

Accepted Article Types

• Original Research: Comprehensive empirical studies with clear objectives and rigorous methodology.
• Review Articles: Systematic or narrative reviews summarising evidence and identifying future research needs.
• Short Communications: Concise reports of new data or pilot findings.
• Case Reports: Unique clinical cases providing valuable lessons for therapy and diagnostics.
• Letters and Commentaries: Scholarly discussions or responses to recently published papers.
• Policy Papers: Analyses of national or international addiction policies and health-service frameworks.

Submission Guidelines

All manuscripts must be prepared in accordance with the journal’s Author Guidelines and Submission Guidelines.

• Submit manuscripts electronically through the secure online submission portal.
• Ensure compliance with COPE, ICMJE and WAME standards for ethical authorship, research integrity and transparency.
• Provide a structured abstract (250–300 words) and up to 6 keywords for indexing.
• Include disclosures of funding and conflicts of interest.
• Figures and tables should be high-resolution and properly cited.
• References formatted in Vancouver style or as per current JATR template.

Upon submission, authors receive an acknowledgement email with manuscript ID and tracking link. The editorial office maintains transparent communication throughout the review process.

Peer Review and Decision

Each submission undergoes a double-blind peer-review process by experts in the relevant discipline. Editors evaluate scientific quality, novelty, ethical compliance and clarity. Average first decision time is typically within 3–4 weeks. Accepted papers proceed to professional copy-editing and online publication.
